Remembering Kiska

April 14, 1987 - December 31, 1999
Kiska as a young dog
Our wonderful friend Kiska gave us so much joy. She was our first trail dog. Kiska is the reason that Wolf Packs exists. Many years ago the family went on a backpack trip to the summit of Mount San Gorgonio, southern California's highest peak. Kiska needed a backpack and so I made one for her. That trip was a great experience and will be etched in my memory for a lifetime.

Snowshoing with Kiba and Kiska
Kiska was very special. She was our constant companion, and a noble spirit. We loved her deeply and with great sadness have said goodbye. She will be terribly missed.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond's glint on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

Kiska now runs with her lifelong companion Kiba.
