Avalanche

Samoyed "Avalanche" using a Red ID CapeMerrilee Scarnegie's beautiful Samoyed Avalanche is wearing his Red ID Cape with a "Please Don't Pet Me" patch. He does seizure detection work for Merrilee. His ID Cape lets the public know that he isn't just a pet, but a specially trained dog with an important life saving task. Everyone knows about seeing eye dogs, but sometimes people forget or don't know there are other types of services that dogs can provide.

In 1999 he earned second place in the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge.  To date he is "Avalanche the Purina Wonder Dog" clearing over 50 inches in height. He is North America's highest jumping Samoyed. While he is Merrilee's service dog he also participates in sledding, weight pulling, obedience, agility, conformation, therapy work, and herding.  He's also a staff dog for the internationally famous Classic K-9 Team performing in over 30 cities in North America every year entertaining millions of people.
