Turner - Official Ranger Dog

Turner, official Ranger DogTurner, owned by David Halpern, is the official Ranger Dog for Shelby County Park in Tennessee. A Red ID Cape identifies him as one of the park's staff members. His duties require him to approach owners of unleashed dogs with David. Advising park visitors of the leash rules is a much more pleasant experience with Turner at his side. "When I approach visitors with a Ranger Dog there is never any problem, as they seem to take direction better from a dog person", says David.

Turner's identification patchDavid has more to say about Turner's ID Cape:

"His uniform is extremely visible, and it is what makes him stand out from the hundreds of visitor dogs. It also shows that he is working. Children constantly approach us and want to know why he is wearing a uniform. When we have contact with a park visitor, for whatever reason, it is clearly apparent that Turner is official. So far we've worn the ID Cape for 6 full work days. Between the mud, and swimming, it has been put thru quite a test. All I do is run a hose over it at the end of the day, and it ends up looking like new."
